What is Spiritual Warfare? Part 1 PDF Print E-mail

I want to know what spiritual warfare is. Not many people talk about it, so I'm having to do my own research on it. My intention is not to freak anyone out but to educate myself and you if you are interested. I don't want to be ignorant on this issue and I want to know who my enemy is.

The following quotes and information will be taken from the book, "The Three Battlegrounds" written by Francis Frangipane.

The 3 main spiritual battlegrounds are the mind, the church, and the heavens.

When the Bible refers to Satan residing in darkness, He means moral darkness, the absence of God. (God is Light)

In Colossians 1:13 it says, "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves..."

We are not trapped in darkness if we have been born of Light. But if we tolerate darkness through tolerance of sin, we leave ourselves vulnerable for satanic assault. For wherever there is willfull disobedience to the Word of God, there is spiritual darkness and the potential for demonic activity." (Luke 11:35, Prov 20:27)

I can't reword this, so I will quote straight from the book..."There is indeed a holy radiance surrounding a true Spirit-filled Christian. But when you harbor sin, the 'light which is in you' is in 'darkness.' Satan has a legal access given to him by God, to dwell in the domain of darkness. We  must grasp this point: The devil can traffic in any area of darkness, even the darkness that still exists in a Christian's heart."

Peter denies Jesus 3x. It is not due to fear. This does not match his character, who just previously drew a sword against a soldier. Satan asks permission from Jesus to sift Peter (and his brothers) like wheat. (Luke 22:31-32) Peter more than likely was struggling with pride (sin). The disciples argued at the Last Supper who was the best. Peter did walk on water, literally! This sin called pride  is what caused Satan's (Lucifer) fall. Satan is very familiar with this sin, this darkness, this disobedience. He saw it in Peter which allowed a door to open for Satan to ask Jesus for permission to 1)tempt Peter and to 2) sift him like wheat.

Pride may have been Peter's weakness and obviously Satan's downfall. What is your weakness? If you can label your weakness, you will know what to pray against. You will know what scriptures to say outloud. You will be prepared when attacked. Satan will attack you in your weakest spot, so don't keep that weakness in the darkness! Confess to the Lord and get it into the Light.

James 4:7 says to submit yourselves to God first. Secondly, resist the devil. Then he will flee from you. Check out the order here! What are we submitting to God? Our weakness(s)! Our will! Our rights to do what we want! When we submit our lives to God's hand, it is only then we can have the power to resist Satan's schemes, and only then will Satan flee.

Don't defend yourself to God but confess your sin to God. Give Satan no foothold.

As you begin to obey and tear down your strongholds, Satan will withdraw. Frangipane says "Satan will not continue to assault you if the circumstances he designed to destroy you are now working to perfect you!
