Weary……

you could probably make a long list of reasons why, but that is not the point….
Jesus says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden,” (for whatever reason)
“and I will give you rest.”
And it means just that- to give rest, quiet, recreate, refresh (sounds good!). Come means come to, toward. Weary means to be worn out, weary, faint, used. So this whole simple statement just means what it says!
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and over burdened, and I will cause you to rest- I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.” Matthew 11:28 Amplified
Just come to Him that you may experience those times of refreshing that come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19)
Just come… so why do we do everything BUT come?
Our busyness without coming to Him is what wearies us and wears us out, makes us faint and at the end of our rope. Our busy daily life plus coming to Him (yes, adding something else which makes no sense) brings us relief, ease, rest, refreshment, and recreates us enabling us to press on.
Oh Lord, let us try You out in this way and find that You are good.
“Oh taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 34:8
Lord, I come to You… it has been a long time, it seems, since I have just been with you, supped with You, enjoyed Your presence and Your word, and talked with You and listened to You. Life has been hard. I bring it all to You… it is all from Your hands, appointed for me. I come before You now, in Your refreshing presence and “complain” that I feel like it is all too much- that I cannot be who I want to be with all this pressure! BUT Your word says that it IS the pressure/the trials that make us into the person You want us to be; therefore, my ‘feelings’ are faulty because they are in direct opposition to Your truth. Your truth tells me to count it all joy when I encounter various trials… [Does that include the boys playing rough and spilling cereal right after I told them to stop and then as that is being cleaned up the dog peeing on the floor as happened tonight?? Just wondering] …knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance and let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect, complete, lacking in nothing. (James 1:2-4)
“Consider yourself to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:11
Step up… step forward… do what you want to be.
Make your flesh take a back seat.
Don’t listen to the flesh… step forward in what/ who you long to be- the longings that He has put in your heart. Try Him out, watch how He will work in and through you. He can move the mountains, and make the way like a plain before you. Follow Him and He will yoke Himself with you and make the way simple, easy.
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest- relief, ease and refreshment, and recreation and blessed quiet for your souls. For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good)- not harsh, hard, sharp or pressing, but comfortable, gracious and pleasant; and My burden is light and easy to be borne.” Matthew 11:29 Amplified
“Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord..” Acts 3:19
